Xavier,

I was *afraid* that you'd ask me that! <g> I guess one place to look would be the Client/Server book that Hentzenwerke publishes ( http://www.hentzenwerke.com/catalogavailability/csvfp.htm ) by Gary DeWitt, Chuck Urweiler, Mike Levy and Leslie Koorhan. It will explain how to connect to SQL databases and run queries, etc. using remote views and/or SPT (SQL Pass Thru).

You could check VFP help for topics about SQLEXEC(), CURSORSETPROP(), SQLCONNECT() ... I'm sure there are others too.

I don't remember if the book goes into using SQLDMO or not (I think it stands for SQL Data Management Objects), but that's a very handy thing to use for manipulating SQL Server database objects. I don't have any handy URL links to post for you, but you could do some searching online at MSDN for SQLDMO.

Perhaps someone else will chime in with some links for you, but this may give you a starting point. I highly recommend the book.

~~Bonnie

>>MSDE (MS Data Engine) is exactly the same as MS SQL Server, except you don't get any of the tools or interface that come with SQL Server. No Query Analyzer or Enterprise Manager. Just the data engine itself (which is freely distributable to your clients) ... but you need to know how to mess with it using other programs (VFP or Access or .NET).
