Back around 1977 I saw Viking 2 launch for Mars. That launch was delayed, but I was so set on it that I stayed around. I think it was 1 day but may have been 2.
It was 'only' (compared to a moon shot Saturn) a Titan IIIB, but it still blew me away.

I've since seen 3 Shuttle launches and each was equally impressive. Only equally because we were so much further away at those launches, making the physical aspects very similar.

My last visit to the Cape was about 1988 and I hear that lots of displays have been added since then.

>This reminds me. My family went to Disney World three years ago and on the way we stopped at Kennedy Space Center. We ended up staying an extra day at Kennedy and it was the best part of our trip for all concerned, even my daughter who was 8 at the time. Due to weather we missed a launch by one day! It ended up taking off while we were at Disney World.

>>Way cool!!! I've been to the Apollo exhibit at KSC... was totally blown away at the size of the Saturn V.

>>>We spent more money and did not keep it simple. Who got to the Moon and back? It was a matter of money, priorities, pride and technology - not necessarily in that order! :) By the way I worked on the Apollo and LEM projects.
