Welcome to the Jungle!
Really, .NET is not so hard if you know well about OOP( coding) and OOD (desing=the important part)
For example, to me, i take 1 year for build a very simple app in FP 2.6 for window. When i get VFP 3, i spend 2 month to study OOP and do the same project (but best) in other 2-3 months. Then i get Delphi (more OO and very good framework) and do the same in 1 month(in part becuase have a best visual framework). Obvios, is not only the improve in language, is the practique in OO and design (and do the same app!)
In this moment, i work with .NET and start to do a medium-size- web app... in 1 week a start coding. With the practique in Delphi (that give me everityng about using a proper framework and do real OO) and VFP (give everything about how do rigth a information provider-database real app) is not so hard. Ok, the framework is big, but nobody use ALL classes in the first project:)
So simply try to emulate a medium or little project and play!
Also, look about design patterns and everything about OOD..
