OK, so it wasn't just the gremlins playing their little pranks.

By the way, changing the paths in your MetaDBC doesn't necessitate a recompile.

Another thought for you is a stub program used to update workstations from a common network point. Each time they run your app, it checks various files (our stub is data-driven and includes the MetaData and the MetaDBC) and updates each as necessary. This way, you're not stuck updating each machine every time you make a change.
