No, I'm counter-arguing your point about his answering technique having too many posts. I'd still invite anyone with the time and interest to check for themselves on the top 50 posters report.

>IMO, if you can answer a question in 1 post as opposed to 3, you should do so. Bulking up one's message count is a non-value added activity. As I have said and as others could easily confirm, he unmerfifully dragged things out. Further, his technical accuracy many times was poor. Did he help people? Sure. Did he hinder people? I contend he did. Do I believe that if you don't know about something, you should not use guessing as a way of helping people? Yes. And I contend that often Ed, and others I might add, did so. If you go back and check the record, you will find that for the most part, I only got on the backs of MVP's.

I would say, he asked more questions when there was not enough information in the originator's post. Not many people do that nowadays, and folks asking questions do not usually detail things enough for others to give a clear-cut answer.

But I will concede that sometimes there was one too many inquiries to a thread, and while that was good for the originator it might have not been for someone searching the archives. I do not agree however that he didn't know the answer before jumping in the thread.

>If what I did got people to think twice about posting a solution and technical accuracy improved, then I did the VFP community a big favor. If OTOH, you place a premium on the cult of sentiment and warm fuzzies, then I did the community a disservice. You decide which has more value to a technical community and go from there...
