Help, I'm a desperado here! I reformatted my 98SE machine to clean it completely over the weekend, and all went well except I forgot one small detail. The Rockwell internal modem driver that came with the machine on diskette was for 95, and installed (after several errors about missing Win95 files). It worked on 98SE (that is, I can dial-up), but with speed of only about 33K. I found another driver somewhere on the web that got me up to around 43K, a little better. But the correct "good" driver always gives me about 53K, very good for a v.90, I'm told. Does anyone have a clue where I should look for this driver? It's a Compaq PC, but I find a lot of stuff but nothing mentions Rockwell. I do a Webferret on Rockwell, and I get 500 hits quickly, too many to be of much help.

The WRONG one is Ver 1.10 (my diskette), but I have no memory at all of how I found the good one last time.

The diskette says Rockwell HCF V.90 Modem Driver Upgrade Ver 1.10 Rev. A

It also says Copyright Compaq - so I think I should be looking for a Compaq upgrade. I copied 4 different modem upgrades at compaq, but none mention Rockwell.

Anyone have any experience at this? Where should I look, or who to call? Compaq or Rockwell? I have no clue, except that if it's internal, it's probably Compaq's job to provide the upgrade. Does that sound right?

What I need is advice from someone who's been through this before, I guess.
