Yeah, they did ... but they'll end up trashing the app and the business in the long run. Oh well ... not our problem anymore.

As far as why are we going with .NET ... well, many reasons I guess. That it's new and different and bleeding edge are a few of the reasons. Seriously though, it makes more sense for the distributed type of architecture that we're designing. To easily be able to use the same server-side components for both a WinForm UI and a WebPage UI is a major plus. Plus, having the ability to automatically deploy updates to client workstations without having to have an IT person physically there on-site to install an update was a *big* factor in our decision.
