Hi Gary. We write apps for the insurance industry also and a few years ago I
chose convertable term insurance for that very reason. At least the CSR was honest and upfront about what happens at different 'points' in your life with your insurance coverage and what it means NOW and THEN. I think most people hear what the insurance agent is saying when they mention that the term expires at a specific period, but since that is so far down the road from when they initially setup their insurance, it doesn't register until the date arrives. The only life insurance I know of that is truly whole-life anyway is military life insurance that you elect to maintain after you retire. There are so many clauses in almost every policy now that protect the carrier. Also, a lot of people don't realize that they need to read the mailings from their insurance agent and the fine print at renewal time. Many conditions are ADDED-IN by carriers at renewal time but they can be opted out of by law. However to do so, you must sign it and mail the form separately and not included with your payment.
