Hi Tracy,

>I agree with this. However, what appears to be happening is that with continuous feed paper, you cannot starting printing at the actual top of the sheet due to the bar rollers on the FIRST PAGE..... SNIP

I agree with your entire paragraph. The issue at hand is how does a particular dot matrix printer handle the paper/forms entrusted to it. In my case the report is printing dozens of pages in a batch on blank paper; we just press the formfeed to eject a blank page. Perhaps you are printing one-at-a-time on preprinted stock, and want to avoid wasting a form for every one you print. They only reason I'm stuck with the dot-matrix for this one report is the need for two-part carbonless. I suggested printing two copies of this report and issuing carbon paper. That did not go very far. :-)

Snip... >......The problem seems to be that ONLY the first page of a report has this issue. For example, there is no way to tell VFP that the first page only has 61 lines and the remaining pages have 66 to print to if tractor-fed paper is used.

Agreed. I've seen some dot-matrix models that had decent paper-handling mechanisms (including some that handled the tear-off situation that you face quite well), and others that were just hopeless. Paper handling with laser and inkjets has come a very long way.

>>Cathy Pountney's Report Writer book has quite a bit on FP2.x reports as well as the newest VFP features; perhaps she knows how to handle this challenge.

>I plan on getting her book soon. She has helped me so much in the past with report writer issues. I have done more than 500 reports at least, but some objects or features in reports I seldom do and I desperately need a reference because at 41 my memory is not what it used to be! :o)

At 49.75 (I'm not 50 yet!!) her book is a real treasure. I had the opportunity to attend two sessions that she gave in Chicago recently. If you're going to a conference, be sure to attend her presentation.
