I have a client who wants to convert his FP/DOS app to VFP, but retain much of the functionality that makes it usable to his existing client base (of course). One of the things he uses heavily in the DOS ver is a generic browser that he populates sort of on the fly with the appropriate columns from the appropriate table, as a row picker for the user. He stores all the browse definitions ("views") in a memo field in a special table. We would like to convert this to use a form set up with a grid that we programmatically change when the form is called, by setting the columncount, the recordsource, the column controlsource, etc. Unfortunately, although we have managed to get it to do that to a certain extent, we usually get a grid with no data in it. ONCE, it came up with correct data, a few times we got it to show the same record x times, but usually it is empty.

We need this to work in order to continue with his conversion. Ideas gratefully accepted.
