I view things from a realistic point of view and when possible, try to provide insight that will help people not waste their time. Flying the flag for the tool of choice is a nice thing. But it needs to serve a purpose. The purpose you assert is to raise the profile of VFP in a cost effective way. Cost effective yes, but will it raise the profile? No, it won't.

In my UT Magazine Interview a few months back I made this basic point: If MS is not willing to promote the tool, why should I expend the time and effort to do so when in the end, it won't make a bit of difference

To most corporate decision makers that have not chosen Fox, you could show them the coolest thing on the planet, tell them it was written in Fox, and in the end, it won't make a difference. There have been lots of great apps written in Fox that have received a decent level of press. In the end, did it make a difference? I contend it did not and will not...

>Huh? Try ... 1) Flying the flag for their development tool of choice; 2) Raising the profile of VFP in a cost effective way.

>There must be tons of VFP apps out there that people use and never have a clue that the underlying development tool is VFP. Maybe you can't convince IT decision makers with this sort of thing but "ordinary users" who gain benefit from an application might create some influence because an application they use and like and works for them is "powered by Visual Foxpro" - well fancy that!

>I gather from your posts that you just don't see things this way. Your approach to VFP is generally negative and therefore you will never see the value of this type of initiative in a month of Sundays. With respect, I am unsure why you even bother commenting on this sort of thing because your view can usually be pre-empted when it comes down to promoting or being positive about VFP.
