>I'm much reminded of the late 70's or early 80's where GOLD ruled the day. I remember seeing my boss in long bank line-up to buy more gold. He knew NOTHING about its market, yet he, like millions of others, jumped right in with both feet. Virtually all lost their shirts very badly. I know that he said he would never go near gold again!

Jim;

The Hunt brothers/family of Texas were the richest American family in 1973. Do you recall their dealings in the silver market? At the time United States citizens/residents could not own gold so the Hunt brothers became the ‘silver barons”. The price of silver was $1.95 an ounce in 1973 and rose to $54 during the first part of 1980. The Hunts were convicted of conspiring to manipulate the market.

The silver market affected the Dow Jones which was at a high of 760 in February 1980 and fell to 730 by March 1980.

Greed is the name of the game. Get yours while you can and get it all. Some people rob banks, others gamble and some play the stock market. Somehow I think they are related.

Just take the money and run.
