The LinkSys is also a firewall. But, this is only an incomming firewall. It will not keep unwanted trojans you may have inadvertantly downloaded from using internet services on your PC. For best protection you may want to install ZoneAlarm (free) on your PCs also. This gives you very strong protection.

I have Norton Virus protection on each of the computers (5 of them) on the local network. Is this reasonably sufficient protection or should I be looking for a firewall device to put between the cable modem and the Linksys router?
