We are actually using BCB6 (SP1). Of course, this DLL does not seem to affect any other parts of VFP except when we attempt either of the following:

APPEND FROM x TYPE XLS (or XL8)
IMPORT FROM x TYPE XLS (or XL8)

Also, it does not happen all of the time. Certain XLS files cause the problem, while others do not.

It may that, if you do not import or append XLS files, your applications may never encounter a problem...

Frankly, I am beginning to believe this is a bug in VFP, not the DLL. Of course, I'll never be able to prove (or disprove) that, so now I just need to figure out a way around it. Maybe I can get someone to write the DLL in Delphi and see if it makes a difference or not... <s>

>Ours include VCLs also. That is very strange. However, I would do whatever works for you to solve it! I'm very happy we are NOT having this problem (well, not yet anyway) with our apps! What version of Delphi are you using and is it a native Delphi VCL or a third party VCL?
