If VFP disappeared tomorrow our application would still continue to work, we would still continue using VFP, until we learn some other program, but this could be several years away by which time .Net will have matured making it more stable, quicker and there might even be something better on the market.

IMO JVP clearly doesn't have to let personal emotions get the better of him when expressing his opinions on Foxpro's situation now and in the future, this allows him to be a bit more "blunt" than most of us (who rely on Fox perhaps?). This will result in a lot of other people getting wound up and not taking kindly to his opinions.
Although I think it is too early for him to recommend we all jump on board the .Net wagon, I do think he has a point, VFP's future is, IMO, more uncertain than most other languages (.Net).
