I would recommend the book "Introducing Microsoft .Net" by Microsoft Press as a book that gives you a good high-level overview of .NET.

Another link is a video at:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/theshow/

For articles, Microsoft has many. This link is like a top level page that directs to many others that might be of interest to you:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/?url=/library/en-us/dndotnet/html/techmap_dotnet.asp

Another recommendation is Learn Visual Studio .NET at:
http://www.learnvisualstudio.net/DesktopDefault.aspx

This site offers videos and other information that is helpful.

If you are a VFP developer, then also check out:
http://www.gotdotnet.com/team/vfp/

This site offers the VFP Toolkit for .NET. It is a class library with over 225 Visual FoxPro 7.0 functions for use with any .NET language. There ar also articles that are applicable for a person who understands VFP and is learning .NET.
