Thank you for your assistance. I just got back (was out Thursday) and noted your kind response. RowSource and RowSourceType values, unfortunately, don't appear to be the solution for the following reasons.

1) I added code to save the RowSource and RowSourceType values before changing the ControlSource. Afterwards, as per your suggestion, I explicitly reassigned the values and issued a Requery(). Unfortunately the problem behavior remains.

2) Actually, the RowSource and RowSourceType values (array) are not in any way directly changed. They were set in the controls' property sheet and that's it.

3) One significant new fact: This behavior occurs only when I am "Adding" a record. When "Editing" an existing record the controls function as expected. They are appropriately Enabled and achieve focus (or toggled to the opposite).

I need to progressively simplify a copy of the form and try to isolate whatever this difference may be. In the meantime, I am still *very much* open to anyone's ideas/suggestions. Thanks again!
