I support an internal application that is used exclusively by my company, and it seems more than a few times a day change & enhancements are submitted to me and I make them and rebuild the exe. The exe as well as all of the data is on our novell lan. One problem I have is when I want to replace the existing exe on the lan I have to have all current users of the exe log off so I can replace it.

First, Is it good practice to have my exe on the network where all users execute the same exe? If so, how should I go about refreshing the exe as mods are made without interrupting current users sessions? I would like to design it so I can place the new exe on the lan and as new users log on they will execute the most recent version, and the users that were currently on the system when I place the new exe on the lan will continue using the "old" version until they log out and then come back in.

Is something like this possible in the environment i'm working in?

As always any & all suggestions are very much appreciated. thnx!

john.
