Well I always felt slightly guilty charging them, so I always told them it would be cheaper to buy a UPS, but they never did. I think it's just typical large company mentality, they have a budget to pay me, but no budget for hardware, or the paperwork to fill out is too much hassle. Also, the employee doesn't pay the bills, or get any benefit from saving money.

Like another company, I went in to fix a problem and required a copy of their data put on a CD. Spent one hour fixing the problem. Another six hours billed to then trying to get the data put on a CD, this is a company that spends hundreds of thousands on computers. All the computers had CD's - all 4x speed, the first six computers either had defective CD's that mode coasters or the write software was not intalled correctly. Finally had to wait for the guy in charge of writing CD's to appear, he had a custom machine to make multiple copies of CD's wow - but his CD -writer was still only 4x. Another 45 minutes waiting for the CD to write. [In the ened found they had built a distibution of some software and manageed to mix VFP5 and VFP6 into one EXE]

I had one company, who required an on-site visit who had said they would buy a UPS, so I was surprised thay were still getting table corruption, they confirmed thay had bought one and showed it to me. Under the computer, still in it's box, unopened <g>
