You're not able to judge what is best for people, so please stop this nonsense. VFP still is the most logical choice in data intensive solotions. No other language can beat the data munging capabilities of VFP which is build on both a set and record oriented approach.

As far as I know you're not GOD so, you can't know how the near future for a VFP looks like.

Let me say it again: People themselve know what is best for them. Programming skills are largely language-independed. When I look at the papers I do not see any requirement for .NET here. Even VB is somewhat rare. Managers here are getting wiser by seeing that following every hype will result in disasters.

Sure .NET has a future. Are VFP and .NEt mutual exclusive. Of course not ! What are you talking about then. I'm writing FP/VFP for about 9 years now. Sure I've seen other languages come popular. Should I've jumped the boat with the occurance with VB, Delphi and MS Access ? Would this beneficial for my skills ? Of course not. I'd still be wondering what this 'inheritance' was all about and would not have been total lost when someone was talking about frameworks.

Well, If you want to give an advise for people to learn: Now that MS has bought Navision Financials with the interessting propetary database with flowfields and sumindexes I expect a lot of improvements in its UI. Learn Navision and be a consultant and earn a lot of money if you're good.

Whether you like it or not the big bucks are not in programming. they are on a much higher level. So if you're trying to get people a brighter financial future then get them out of programming onto a higher level in the IT business. Jumping from one to another language is a waste of resource unless you've no other choice.
