Agreed. I've already been doing that. It's not that he's in doubt (this also happens to be a friend of mine, so he knows I'm not trying to screw him or his company), I just want to present him with alternate views so he can make an informed decision. I'd rather he would come to the conclusion that VFP is a viable solution on his own, than to have him just take my word for it.
The competition is an expensive Unix based application that (of course) does a bunch of stuff that they don't need. We've been trying to present him with a custom (PC based) SQL Server solution at a much cheaper cost. So I'm pretty sure that we'll get the bid anyway. But if he's really confident, his boss will be as well (and guess who signs the checks) (s)...
