>I am trying to insert an expression in the View Designer and receive the following error: ERROR: Variable '_TIMING' is not found. I am currently creating a remote view but it also occurs in a local view. I am using VFP7.0. Any ideas as to why this is occuring. I just want to use the UPPER function on a field. Any suggestions?

Yes, how about pasting your SQL here?

If you're using variables in your view definition, these variables need to exist and have the proper scope and values when you open or requery the view - pretty much like parameters for the parameterized views. What is _timing in your case, a variable or a field it can't find for some reason?
