I admire the way you have led this discussion. Plato would be proud.

Another point of view. One needs to change their software tool every once in a while, but not too often. The reason is that it takes time to become truly proficient in a tool, yet if the one you use is a good one, and you are an expert at it, you can stretch its usefulness for quite a while. But not forever.

In other words, I think it is best to use seven league boots, and make few, but long, moves.
