Hi,
Back in 1985 (I was 13 years old), I learned BASIC as my first programming language (I used BASICA). Amazed to what PEEK/POKE able to do, I learned 8086/8088 Assembly language in 1988. During 1988-1994, I learned Pascal, C, and dBase III+ (mostly in class), but I was still hooked on Assembly. After graduate from college, I started to look for a job and that was when I realize that most of what I had learned didn't do much for a job. I mean, of course it was interesting to trap Ctrl-Alt-Del and display some nice picture, or create a virus with my class' logo and spread it to my schoolmates, but the point was nobody would pay for that.
Anyway, I re-learned Clipper and found my self end up using FPD 2.6. While I did my job with FPD2.6, I look for a Windows programming tools in 1995-1998. I tried VB and VC. In 1998, I got a small project to create an apps under Windows, and that was when I tried Visual FoxPro 5.0 and got hook since then. I just wished that I learned something that would generate income (real money) sooner...
Just my 2c,
Willianto
