Dale,
>I do have a few more questions though. You said you have to change the scripts when controls on the forms are moved. Is that because when it records the scripts it saves the X,Y position of mouse clicks or does it save the actual object name?
It stores the X,Y coordinants. To reduce the issue with mouse-clicks, we resorted to using the keyboard for navigation. (Which works fine as long as the tab order remains the same.)
> Could you have it call the actual object name's click event?
Not to my knowledge.
> How long have you been using the tool?
We used the tool for about 2 months (during a time when we were focused on debugging the software).
> Do you feel overall that is saved time, money, labor, etc or if you had to do it all over again would you skip the automated testing?
I think that I would skip the automated testing. At least with the current software that my company offers. I think the biggest thing that it made me do is _actually_ run through user scenarios that I normally would assume that would work. Simply by being forced to build scripts for different scenarios we detected most of the software bugs and misbehaviors.
