OK, just to press your procrastination button a bit harder ;-)

While 11mbps sounds fast, that bandwidth is shared between all wireless users using your router. So if there are 10 users, they share a total available bandwidth of the rated wireless speed. 11mbps will be fine for browsing and e-mail but may get a bit slow if several people are downloading large files etc.

The new 802.11a wireless standard is a *lot* quicker than the current 802.11b standard. 802.11a can go to 100mbps in proprietary mode or about 50mbps in standard mode. 802.11b goes to 22mbps in proprietary and 11mbps in standard mode. Needless to say, the 2 are incompatible.

802.11a routers are now available. They cost more (twice to thrice as expensive) and so far, few wireless users have it.

dlink is also about to release a dual a/b router. Obviously this will cost more again.

I picked 11b because there have been major price cuts with the new 11a standard arriving. And for e-mail and browsing by a small number of users (2 in my case), that's plenty.
