Hi Hugh,

Interesting. I went to the InstallShield site and looked at the forums for ISExpress. Indeed, there are VB and Delphi subforums but none for VFP.

I am looking into this and passing the request on to the appropriate parties. Stay tuned. Thanks for the "heads up".

>>Hi Don,

>>InstallShield is a great tool and much, much more flexible that the old Setup Wizard. Sure, it's going to take a little time to learn it but I think you'll be happy you did.
>>
>>Plus, it's based on Windows Installer technology, so whatever you learn can be easily applied to other install utilities.
>>
>>There were some (somewhat minor) areas of concern with the version InstallShield Express that shipped with VFP7...these areas are being addressed for future releases.
>>
>>
>>>I have recently begun working with VFP7 and found it to be very stable and I particularly enjoy 'intellisense'. However, ....
>>>
>>>I have just now discovered the missing setup wizard which has been replaced with InstallShield. This is a huge negative in my mind.
>>>
>>>I left the CLIPPER language years ago and discovered the ease with which VFP allowed me to create the final EXE which I distributed. Oh, sure you had to think a little bit to get the files in a separate directory but it was all documented within VFP and you just learned how to do it and it worked fine.
>>>
>>>Now... that is all gone in favor of InstallShield. I might be missing something but it seems extremely sophisticated / complicated. Figuring out which files to include, where they should be located prior to building the EXE, what you have when it finishes ... a nightmare. I ran through a simple one just to see what it does and ended up with an entire structure of directories to deal with. I never did locate the EXE I was looking for.
>>>
>>>I have to say, this might be a step forward for those that live and breathe this stuff but for a simple guy trying to produce straightforward software that is simple to build and run (and then go home to play with his kids) it is not. In fact, it probably is going to freeze me in VFP6 for as long as it is possible to hold on to it.
>>>
>>>Am I alone with this KISS (Keep it simple, stupid) approach ?
