>hi all,
>how does this SQLCONNECT thing work. i want to connect to a VFP database from VFP through SQLCONNECT. but as far as i can tell from the documentation on it you need to use a connection object which is stored in the VFP database. but if you already have the database open, why would you use SQLCONNECT?

You can also use a DSN - Data Source Name as seen in the ODBC Data Source Administrator window (in Windows XP, click on Start - Control Panel - Data Sources (ODBC)).

You can also use SQLSTRINGCONNECT, where you supply a connection string: database, user ID, password, etc.
