VB5.. hmm do one thing open your recordSet/datacontrol in readonly mode.
it should solve your problem.
there is lot of change from vb5 to vb6 -SP5 particularly in databound ocx and dlls so better if you go for VB6 with service pack 5 to avoid bound probs.
