I read it yesterday and was tempted to go back and reply to the JVP "ROI on marketing" thread referencing the URL. Then I remembered the "Do not feed the Trolls" sign taped to my monitor. Sure sounded like everyone was clamoring for dotNyet to come along and solve all our problems and that is why MS put all the dollars behind .NET. Just getting the word out to all the people that we have created the solution you have been waiting on. VB is not being marketed anymore. I recall its spin budget was somewhat larger that VFP. Visual Studio? We are all going to have to C# or B flat. Now that is a hell of a note.
At least the spin is equalizing that the marketing dollar is being spent on creating need and demand for intangible benefits down the road. Oh, and by the way MsOffice the aging cash cow will be positioned as the ultimate client for all of these new Web Services. Things that the end users and buying decision makers can feel warm and bubbly about but may not understand their great need for until MS expose them to it. Bubbly? Bubble? dot.com bubble? .NET bubble? Whoops, I have lapsed into meaningless word association and must stop before I let my mouth overload my buffer. But it is good to see some balance to the .NET hype overload.
