I've been using InstallShield Pro 6.1 for a couple of years with no problems. The other day it worked fine in the morning, then in the afternoon I started getting "IDE caused an invalid page fault in module MFC42.DLL". All I get is the initial splash screen.

I did all the standard disk tests, and many reboots, then I reinstalled to a differnet directory and still get the error.

I've done SYstem File Checker, and replaced the Windows/system copy of MFC42.DLL - now it still fails, but the error message is slightly different.

If I switch my primary disk drive to another, and reboot [with a differnt copy of Windows 98SE], then I can run InstallShield from the same directory that fails in the first attempt, so it appears to be a Windows error of some sort rather than Install Shield itself.

But it's pain to have to power down and switch drives every time I do an Install build.
