Thanks for responding.
I was aware of that property, the problem being that if there is no scanner installed, I don't want the user to even have the option of attempting to run the scanner application.
I did consider creating an instance of Imaging through automation in the .Init() event of the VFP form, running it off screen, ie .Left = -1000, checking out the scanner situation, closing and releasing the Imaging object.
The menu/toolbar options would be enabled or not according to the result.
It just seems a crude way of determining something that may be retrievable from the registry or by some other means.
