Dear MH

>>What philosophical premises cannot we not agree on? Lets work those out. I'd really like to hear why you think there is a meaning to life. <<

When it comes to Postmodern Nihilism, which I *think* is what you are espousing: despite the meaningless of it all, to develop an "argument" nevertheless requires a basic premise or agreement to work from. If *all* perspectives are equally non-binding, all we will see is a series of flames and contradictions in which only the most intellectually/morally arrogant are fulfilled. Obviously we do not fall into that category.

One other thing. The ethic of "cheerful Nihilism" is only possible as a minority position because Raw Power always imposes "truth" when unconstrained by agreed morals or mores. Examples abound.

"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us.
