Novell place an interesting advertisement in the latest edition of eWeek (August 12, 2002). It's a two page advertisement pages 18 - 19. Note that if you have this edition and the ad does not appear, it is because this advertisement may be sent only to a certain brand of readers -- say "enterprise" readers or "desktop" readers or whatnot...

Anyway, there's a large yellow road sign on page 18 that says "Tool Booth Ahead Have Money Ready".

And on page 19 it states "Microsoft just delivered a clear pricing roadmap for your future."

Smaller print on page 19 -- "The signs are all there. Microsoft wants more money from you. And they'll do whatever it takes to get it. Because one thing's for sure, their new licensing initiative only benefits their bottom line -- and not yours."

Analysis: OUCH!!!! What an effective advertisement!

This ad is really directed toward the Licensing 6.0 program but is also a veiled shot at .NET as well.
