Try also 'salvaging' files from NT/2000 the way you did with Novell also...FWIW, i still use Novell as the main File Server for mission critical apps, and NT just for mail server, backup server, web services and the like.

>Hey I was sold a couple years ago when we switched to NT and 2000 on a lot of the systems and all of a sudden I was managing the servers all day and night. I had Novell servers that ran with no downtime for 6 years straight! No hacks, no security holes, and now with NT and 2000 it is a daily panic... There is something inherently wrong with a network OS that is 'open' by default out of the box instead of the reverse like Novell. Oh well, no one wants to hear that though... :o)

>>Novell place an interesting advertisement in the latest edition of eWeek (August 12, 2002). It's a two page advertisement pages 18 - 19. Note that if you have this edition and the ad does not appear, it is because this advertisement may be sent only to a certain brand of readers -- say "enterprise" readers or "desktop" readers or whatnot...
>>
>>Anyway, there's a large yellow road sign on page 18 that says "Tool Booth Ahead Have Money Ready".
>>
>>And on page 19 it states "Microsoft just delivered a clear pricing roadmap for your future."
>>
>>Smaller print on page 19 -- "The signs are all there. Microsoft wants more money from you. And they'll do whatever it takes to get it. Because one thing's for sure, their new licensing initiative only benefits their bottom line -- and not yours."
>>
>>Analysis: OUCH!!!! What an effective advertisement!
>>
>>This ad is really directed toward the Licensing 6.0 program but is also a veiled shot at .NET as well.
>>
>>Take a look at http://www.novell.com/products/netware/comp_pricing.html for a look at the sign (it's much larger in the ad) and related information.

Why do programs stop working correctly as soon as you leave the Fox?
