John & Mike,
Concerning meaning, here's a few of my favorites. Enjoy!

"People say that what we're all seeking is a meaning for life... I think that what we're really seeking is an experience of being alive, so that our life experiences on the purely physical plane will have resonance within our innermost being and reality, so that we can actually feel the rapture of being alive."
-- Joseph Campbell
"This above all: to thine own self be true,
And it must follow, as the night the day,
Thou canst not be false to any man."
-- William Shakespeare
"Don't be satisfied with stories, how things have gone with others. Unfold your own myth." -Rumi
"When we try to pick out anything by itself, we find it hitched to everything else in the Universe." - John Muir
Simply put, theology gets caught up too often in explaining the meaning of life instead of seeking an experience of being alive. Theologians need to hear this criticism. Too frequently they have been guilty, as the Polynesians say, of "standing on a whale, fishing for minnows. "
-- Belden C. Lane
Life is without meaning.
You bring the meaning to it.
The meaning of life is
Whatever you ascribe it to be.
Being alive is the meaning.
-- Joseph Campbell
