>>Do you believe that your life has a reason, meaning, or purpose that was given to you by something beyond the natural world?<<

I do not believe in an external white bearded fellow with a big book who lives "up there" and behaves as a tyrant. So my answer has to be No.

I do believe that humanity is distinguished from animals and plants. Whether that is because of "the atom bomb" or "God" is not the point, the fact is that we are distinguished and shouldn't have to "prove" that we have attributes not possessed by beetles and shrubs.

I also believe in morality and the state. Both have a place and a purpose.

I also believe in God. I remember at University there was a devout Christian who announced during a discussion re Ethics that God would never allow a poor family to have a disabled child. I can see why you might find that abhorent but "ignorance" is not a function of believing in God, it is everywhere.
My "brainwashing" is different from yours, I've practiced medicine under fire and seen children starving or dying from diseases you wouldn't believe, actually I doubt you'd believe some of the stuff I saw at all- so I have more reason to be athiest than you. Nevertheless I believe in God. It is a personal thing, a "freedom" or "liberty" if you like.

"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us.
