When I heard that scholars attribute certain biblical content to be added by man to facilitate memory (way back when) I said to myself that any argument can be made to suit the objective desired.

I am a Christian but I chose to exercise the "free thought" that God gave me and I choose to live by the "spirit" of the Bible as I perceive it and as (some) others have related it to me. Yes, that's the easier path but it is also one that I believe will achieve the expected goal.
