>>That sure sounds like an interesting formula. Is there some other product that gets credited when someone purchases a VFP upgrade directly, or is it that VFP is getting a big piece of every MSDN Subscription? In any case, it sounds as though VFP is sitting pretty from what you say, with no need for any marketing effort whatsoever. Just sit back and take a piece of every one of those MSDN Subscription sales, regardless of where they come from. A curious situation indeed!

Ken,

Your logic baffles me. One would assume that VFP is credited with 100% of the revenues generated by direct sales of either VFP stand-alone or upgrade purchases. Now I don't know exactly what percentage of an MSDN Subscription is attributed to VFP, but I'd be very surprised to hear that it was even as much as 10%. You seem to be suggesting that VFP's slice of each MSDN Subscription, based on Microsoft's "very accurate" surveys as to the percentage attributable to VFP, would be larger than the amount of a corresponding direct purchase of VFP.

Even setting aside the apparent absurdity of such a claim, your conclusion that "there is lots of marketing needed" to generate further revenues for VFP would appear to be unwarranted by such a formula. Furthermore, your observation that "Most FoxPro developers have yet to upgrade beyond VFP 6.0" seems altogether irrelevant, and moreso if one accepts your conclusion as to the greater importance of MSDN Subscription sales. Finally, your not-so-subtle insertion of the phrase "towards the FoxPro community", adds insult to injury.

In short, your response was unresponsive, your logic is flawed and circular, and your claims that you have been forthright and honest with the FoxPro community appear to be entirely unfounded.
