>Like many fundamental laws in the sciences that have been held to be true for centuries, modern thinking has evolved to show that what was previously thought to be impossible is not necessarily so & need not contradict the fundamental laws :

http://www.entropylaw.com/Hardly. The so called 'Law of Maximum Entropy' is merely a way of rewriting the rules when nature doesn't play your game the way you want it played. Their use of the word 'potential' is deliberately opaque in order flim/flam. Potential has a well defined mathematical meaning in Physics, not the handwaving that site is using in trying to portray the 2nd Law as supporting spontaneous appearance of order (i.e., life). Their agenda is obvious, however, since a highly ordered item like a treee or a worm or a person won't intialize itself spontaneously from raw elements, and even Miller's experiment proved that DL organics need a helping hand. Theory proposes but experiement disposes. All they have to do is report reproducible experiements proving their contentions.
The MAJOR revolution in Thermodynamics has been the proof that the the 2nd Law applies to open systems as well as closed systems.
