Ken, I don't for a moment question your integrity. You've given far too much to the Fox community over the years for me to even consider it. But when you make statements like the following:

It is much better for my efforts and the Fox team if VFP developers obtained MSDN Subscrptions and not just stand-alone or upgrade version of VFP.

which, at least to me, and from what I see, others, seems to imply that somehow it is better for the future of VFP for us to buy MSDN subscriptions (for which VFP is credited with a percentage) rather than VFP (for which I assume VFP is credited with 100%), you should be able to understand why we might think that this represents a fairly bizarre logical paradox.

First we were told the only way to keep VFP viable is to upgrade to VFP7. Now we're being told the best thing for VFP is to not upgrade to VFP7, but to buy an MSDN subscription instead.

Does this mean that if I want to continue to upgrade to each new version of VFP on it's own, I am somehow contributing to the demise of VFP?

Ok, so maybe the MSDN route from VFP works for this year. But what about next year when, in MS's perfect world, there are no more truly identifiable VFP users, only MSDN members. When they renew then, how will they be renewing as VFP users? The trees will simply get lost in the forest.

Obviously the fear out here is that one day MS will look at the numbers, and say "Well, seems nobody is buying VFP upgrades, so there doesn't seem to be much point in manufacturing them any more."

I can understand not wanting to explain business decisions - they are what they are regardless who understands them or not, but if MS wants me to spend my money on MSDN instead of VFP in order to somehow assure the future of VFP, I'm afraid the logic needs to be explained to me.

Alan

>We want people to upgrade to VFP, and we are promoting VFP via MSDN Subscrptions and will continue to do so. VFP works great with VS .NET, more and more VFP developers are using ASP.NET with VFP for example. MSDN Subscriptions is a great value for obtaining products and tools beyond VFP only. All my messages contain completely accurate and honest information. I'm sorry that you do not understand my messages. I have no reason or intent to explain business decisions.
