>>Good grief Jerry... You know as well as anyone else that the marketplace is amoral. If you want Microsoft to behave 'better' then convince each of the 50,000+ employees to swear allegiance to a personal code of ethics. The human condition is such that we both know that there are going to be cases where bad things hapen. That's why we have laws.

>I don't want them to 'behave better'. All I am asking is that they follow the law, like good citizens do. They are making a habit out of running red lights because they own the biggest house in town and drive a caddie. Lawful citizens don't get to their destination (the sale, the contract, the job) as quickly as MS does because they follow the laws.

??

How do you square not wanting Microsoft to behave better yet asking them to follow the law? Isn't 'behaving better' synonomous with 'following the law'? Are you asserting then that they are already following the law? If 'running red lights' is in your opinion 'bad behavior' then you DO want them to 'behave better' don't you? Or, are you saying that running red lights is following the law?

<g>

I want Microsoft to behave better. I think that as they are a company of humans and that all humans are flawed there is axiomatically always room for them to behave better. If, as a matter of corporate policy, they are misbehaving (in a legal sense) then they should face the law and the penalties of not following the law.

Perhaps what you are thinking is that the US Federal Government or the state go Washington's government should enforce the law better?

??
