If this question had been re-worded and posted on other forums as "The Decline of VB" or "The Decline of C++" or even "The Decline of MS Word" I seriously doubt if they would draw anywhere near the volumes of postings "The Decline of VFP" has attracted.

I haven't read all the postings but it is clear that a considerable number of developers fear for the future of VFP. These developers are not anti-VFP (or I guess they wouldn't be here) so I think it would be foolish to brush their concerns under the carpet.

That, coupled with the volume of postings, has to tell anyone looking at this independently that there is a problem. And if these concerns are without foundation then there is only one company who can move to shake off these fears - which to date appears to have failed as it looks like there are even more developers unhappy than there were when VFP was removed from VS.

Personally, I think it is time to move away from VFP (sadly). I have had customers who have been concerned about VFP (and why not as alot of the developers are) and I have even had a representative of the UK government stating that VFP is dead in the last week.

I am tired of banging my head against a brick wall. Maybe now my recruitment problems are at an end as VFP developers are thin on the ground over here.

Could the last man / woman to leave please turn off the lights.

Regards,

Aaron
