Well, at least I now seem to have found a way to simulate this or - to avoid this. I myself really can't judge on the difference, but here it is :

At this same page there is a UT Login link; once this one has been used, then it works fine. This keeps on working until the browser instance directing to this Login link is closed, and started again. So somehow the page where UT originates from is related to the problem (avoiding it). Hence, starting UT directly from a new browser instance (and logging in) won't allow the FRAMERMENU to be found as an object.

I really can't tell where this difference would be, also knowing that the links are opened in a separate browser instance always. However :
I'd think on Session-ID's that origin from a browser instance (possibly related to some cookie ?).
