Gary Dewitt did a presentation at the Great Lakes Great Database Workshop (www.hentzenwerke.com) in either 2000 or 2001 dealing with this issue, using SQL Server, MSDE, and Visual FoxPro. I remember that it used GUIDs as primary keys, and SQL Server replication. You may be able to contact him and take a look at the paper.
