FWIW, Cache has an ODBC Driver and with some effort you can use Cache as a relational database similar to SQL Server. We tried that in the UK in 2000. We had constant niggles and troubles, the local support people kept missing characters out of arcane command lines and screwing up indices etc, Cache instances on the server seemed to swarm over all the resources over time till there was none left. In the end I insisted they move to SQL Server, what a relief.

Cache as a development tool/database remains very strong in some quarters. Stability problems are apparently not seen if you write native Cache.

Oh, and it is fully supported by its vendor ;-)

yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us.
