>> Scolding developers on their choice of tools within a Windows Security article is so out of place as to be embarrassing. This is the Microsoft Bigger Hammer School of Dentistry Marketing Technique. No mention of non-Microsoft technologies or development environments. No mention of why a developer should learn .NET at the exclusion of other development languages. How about Delphi? How about Kylix? How about PowerBuilder? What about Oracle? Hell, what about Visual FoxPro????? <<
I know Daryl personally and I don't think he wrote that last section, IMO. <<

I just read that article by Daryl Moore, after I read your post about it here. It appears Daryl decided to add a section about job security in his security article. Nobody at Microsoft reviews or tech edits any FoxPro Advisor (FPA) articles before they are printed unless the author is a Microsoft employee. As far as I know, Advisor has expert VFP developers who tech edit articles but really don't add content to the original author's article. Daryl is free to write whatever he wants as long as Advisor approves it. It is all completely independent of Microsoft. You should talk to Daryl directly before making an accusation like this. There was a detailed article in FoxTalk a few months back by Bob Lee advocating the use of MySQL for use with VFP instead of SQL Server since MySQL was less expensive. Bob did not point out the many features SQL Server includes which MySQL does not, he made it sound like they were equal and they are not. I think we all know that developers tend to promote and evangelize the products and tools they like and use, it is natural.

You are some what taking on the role of a journalist of journalism by the recent messages you are posting, and I suggest you do some verifying of facts before making unfounded and your bias opinions about them because often, as in this case, it is a disservice to the audience here on the UT as well as the author and those who you imply are guilty of some wrong doing. If you read the article carefully, you see that Daryl suggests people who use VFP should keep using VFP while considering learning new technologies such as ASP.NET because of job market demand. I know Daryl personally, and I talked to him a few weeks ago and he mentioned he found a good job for a client doing ASP.NET development. One can assume that he is adding those comments in that job security section based on his own experience, and maybe he can chime in on this thread to verify. I don't think Delphi and PowerBuilder work "with" VFP near as well as Visual Studio .NET does, and the job market (related to that article section) is what is relevant to the comments he made.
