Hi Kelly,

I’m not sure what the problem is with your registry, but my guess is that Sergey is right: corruption. One thing I can highly recommend is a tool that I use: ConfigSafe from imagineLan.

I got a free copy of it several years ago with a ThinkPad (free, that is, if you don’t count the cost of the ThinkPad <g>.) With ConfigSafe I’m able to back up and restore snapshots of the registry as well as other system files. The best feature, however is the ability to compare snapshots and see what was changed. When you are tracing your code you’ll find this makes recovery a snap.

This tool has saved me many hours of work. I would’ think of doing registry coding without a copy of this installed. I don’t know what it costs; I’ve been paying about $20 for the updates though. Check it out at www.imaginelan.com.

>I am using the registry class in a program to read from the installed software list to determine if a certain program has been installed. This is being called as a function in the main program after the program has been installed. When I run the main program on my machine it works just fine. However, when it is run on a test machine it only reads the last entry in the registry. When I looked more closely there were empty entries in the registry which was causing the loop to end to quickly. Has anybody had the same issues or can give me a place to start looking to correct this problem.
