>I know a lot of people that are blown away by Visual FoxPro including VB, C++ and Delphi developers. But then again it depends on what was written with it. SBT isn't the prettiest or most awesome application to show off VFP with. You can create the same application in just about any language you want to pick from. It's just a matter of was it the right tool for the application. Although, I wouldn't want to right a business application in Turtle Logo. The real question is how quick can you solve the clients problem and produce a robust application with each different tool. VFPers have a distinct advantage because we have a native data engine and data manipulation language built into our tool. So for small business clients who can't afford to use SQL SERVER or ORACLE, we are at an advantage. However, it also makes it an awesome front end to SQL SERVER or ORACLE too. Additionally, we have so many built in methods and functions that we don't have to reinvent the wheel all the time. Look at
>all the tools Kamal put into the .NET Toolkit. A lot of those functions aren't even in C# or VB. I run into the same thing in Delphi all the time. You really miss ASCAN(), ASEEK() and ASORT() when you need them.

>For those people that hate VFP that use Access, well I think that comes from the fact that they actually would have to be able to write code in order to use it. I hate it when you have to write code!

>So most VFP Haters probably do so because of one or more of the following reasons:
>
>1. They probably get paid by the hour and writing apps in VFP doesn't net them as much money.
>2. A lot of software geeks don't workout and the VFP Hacker's Guide is so heavy they can't pick it up.
>3. Remembering all of the Commands and Functions available in VFP is beyond their mental capacity.
>4. They were taught to Subclass objects using: CTRL+C, CTRL+V.
>5. Lots of other languages have Application Wizards that can Analyze Business Methods, Design the Data Structure and Build an Application complete with all business rules simply by clicking on Next, Next, Next, Finish! Why should they have to learn to program.
>6. If they didn't use up all of their budget money on expensive tools like SQL SERVER and ORACLE, they'll have their budget cut the following year.
