I'm sure by now you've seen that Word 2000s help is no help.
I was unable to do what you're wanting to do, but I did notice that in page format you can set it so that it is supposed to apply your settings "from this point forward." This allowed me to make page 4, page 1. But, page 1 was 1, 2 was 2, etc. If it can be done then it involves page setup as well.
